Fuel Lines: Diesel Fuel Lines, High-Pressure Hoses & Fuel Pipes for Excavators and Heavy Equipment

Fuel lines are the connective tissue of every diesel fuel system, the network of pipes, hoses, and fuel rail assemblies carrying diesel from tank to injectors and back through the return circuit. A cracked or perished fuel line introduces air, causes pressure loss, and produces symptoms misdiagnosed as injector or pump faults. At Imara Engineering, we stock diesel fuel lines, fuel hoses, and fuel pipes for Caterpillar, Cummins, and Komatsu equipment, catalogued by application.

Every line meets OEM specifications, correct pressure rating, material construction, and end fitting dimensions. OEM-equivalent aftermarket is the accepted global standard. We dispatch fast and ship worldwide across East Africa and beyond. Our complete Fuel System range, including fuel injectors, fuel injection pumps, fuel lift pumps, fuel primer pumps, and fuel shutoff solenoids, means that a full fuel delivery system repair is a single consolidated order from Imara Engineering.

Collection: Fuel Line

Shop Fuel Lines by Brand and Application

Fuel line fitment is specific to machine brand, engine model, and line position within the fuel circuit. Use the brand sections below to navigate directly to the fuel lines your machine requires.

Caterpillar Fuel Lines

Caterpillar excavators and heavy construction machines operate across some of the most demanding environments in the industry, and their fuel lines are engineered to withstand the sustained pressures, temperatures, and vibration loads that heavy cycle operation generates. A degraded or damaged cat fuel line on a high-hours machine introduces air into the system, causes fuel pressure instability, and produces symptoms — hard starting, rough running, and power loss that are easily misattributed to injector or pump faults before the line is correctly identified. Our Caterpillar fuel line range covers:

  • Cat fuel line variants for the major CAT 3-series and C-series engine families used across the excavator and construction equipment range
  • High-pressure fuel line assemblies for the supply side of the fuel circuit connecting the injection pump to the injectors on applicable CAT engine configurations
  • Fuel return line components for the return circuit carrying excess fuel back to the tank on CAT excavator and equipment applications
  • Fuel rail components for CAT C-series common rail engine configurations, where the fuel rail is a replacement item

Fitment for cat fuel lines is confirmed by engine model and serial number. Contact our parts team with your machine and engine details for confirmed line identification before your order is placed.

Cummins Fuel Lines

Cummins engines are among the most widely deployed powerplants in the global heavy equipment sector, and their fuel line systems span both mechanical and common rail configurations, each with different pressure specifications and line construction requirements. A failed Cummins fuel line on a common rail engine, in particular, can cause rapid pressure loss across the high-pressure fuel rail that the ECM-controlled injectors depend on for correct operation. Our Cummins fuel line range covers:

  • Cummins fuel line variants for the 4BT, 6BT, N14, M11, ISX, and ISX15 engine families used across the construction and heavy equipment range
  • High-pressure fuel line diesel assemblies for the high-pressure supply circuit on common rail and mechanical Cummins engine configurations
  • Fuel hose and fuel pipe components for the low-pressure and return circuits on Cummins-powered equipment
  • Fuel return line excavator components for Cummins-engined excavators requiring return circuit line replacement

Komatsu Fuel Lines

Komatsu excavators and construction equipment operate some of the largest heavy equipment fleets in East Africa and globally, and their fuel lines require the same attention to specification and fitment accuracy as the engine components they serve. Our Komatsu fuel line range covers:

  • Komatsu fuel line variants for the most widely operated Komatsu excavator and equipment models across the construction and mining sectors
  • Fuel hose excavator components for Komatsu-powered machines requiring hose replacement on the supply, delivery, or return circuits
  • Fuel pipe excavator assemblies for Komatsu equipment, where rigid pipe sections form part of the fuel delivery circuit
  • High-pressure fuel line assemblies for Komatsu common rail engine configurations operating at elevated supply circuit pressures

Komatsu fuel line fitment is confirmed by machine model and engine serial number. Contact our parts team with your machine details, and we will confirm the correct line specification before your order is placed.

Fuel Line Types: Supply, Return, High Pressure, and Fuel Rail

Understanding the role of each line type in your machine's fuel circuit ensures you source the correct replacement for the specific section that has failed. Here is a clear breakdown of the main fuel line categories stocked at Imara Engineering.

High-Pressure Fuel Lines The high-pressure fuel line is the most demanding line in the fuel system, the pipe or hose assembly that carries pressurised diesel from the injection pump to each injector on the engine. In mechanical injection systems, these lines operate at pressures that can reach 300 to 600 bar, depending on the engine specification. In common rail systems, the high-pressure fuel line diesel supply side operates at pressures up to 2,000 bar and above. These lines must be manufactured to the exact pressure rating and end fitting specification of the original equipment; there is no margin for substituting an under-rated component on the high-pressure side of a diesel fuel circuit.

Fuel Return Lines The fuel return line carries excess diesel, the fuel that was not combusted by the injectors, back from the injectors and injection pump to the fuel tank. Return lines operate at much lower pressures than supply lines but are equally important to the function of the system. A blocked or collapsed fuel return line excavator component causes fuel to back up in the system, raising injection pump inlet temperatures and reducing pump longevity. Return line replacement is a routine maintenance item on high-hour machines.

Low-Pressure Supply Lines and Fuel Hoses The low-pressure supply circuit connects the fuel tank to the lift pump and the lift pump to the injection pump. Fuel hose assemblies on this side of the circuit operate at low transfer pressures but are subject to perishing, cracking, and air ingress over time, particularly on machines operating in high-temperature environments. A fuel hose excavator that has cracked or collapsed on the low-pressure side introduces air into the system that causes hard starting, rough running, and eventually injection pump damage if left unaddressed.

Fuel Rail The fuel rail is the high-pressure manifold that stores and distributes pressurised fuel to all injectors simultaneously on common rail engine systems. On modern Caterpillar, Cummins, and Komatsu common rail engines, the fuel rail is a precision-manufactured component operating at sustained high pressures throughout the engine's operating cycle. A cracked or leaking fuel rail causes an immediate rail pressure drop and triggers fault codes on the engine management system. Imara Engineering stocks fuel rail components for applicable common rail engine configurations.

Fuel Pipe Assemblies Fuel pipe excavator assemblies are the rigid metal pipe sections, typically steel or high-grade alloy, used on portions of the fuel circuit where hose flexibility is not required and the dimensional rigidity of a metal pipe provides better routing and vibration resistance. Fuel pipes on heavy equipment are prone to fatigue cracking at their end fittings over high operating hours and vibration cycles.

Warning Signs Your Fuel Lines Need Replacing

Fuel line degradation is gradual, but the consequences of a failed line on an active machine are immediate. Watch for these symptoms on your excavator or heavy equipment:

  1. Hard starting or extended cranking — air entering the fuel system through a cracked or perished fuel hose on the low-pressure supply side reduces the system's ability to prime and maintain fuel pressure at cranking speed
  2. Rough idle and uneven running after startup — air bubbles entering the fuel circuit through a degraded line, causing intermittent fuel delivery disruption to the injection pump or injectors
  3. Power loss under load — a partially collapsed or kinked fuel line restricting fuel flow to the injection pump and reducing the fuel volume available for combustion under operating demand
  4. Visible fuel weeping or staining — external fuel leakage at line end fittings, along hose bodies, or at pipe joints, indicating a line that has failed or is close to failure
  5. Fuel smell in the engine bay — even small fuel line leaks produce a persistent diesel odour in the engine compartment that warrants immediate line inspection
  6. Active fault codes on common rail machines — low rail pressure fault codes on electronically managed engines can be caused by high-pressure fuel line leakage rather than pump or injector failure

Any visible fuel leak from a line or fitting on a heavy equipment machine should be treated as an immediate replacement priority, both for operational reliability and for the safety of the machine and its operators.

Why Source Your Fuel Lines from Imara Engineering

  1. OEM specification for every line type and application: Every diesel fuel line, fuel hose, and fuel pipe in our range is manufactured to the correct pressure rating, material specification, and end fitting dimensions for the application it serves, from low-pressure supply hoses to high-pressure fuel line diesel assemblies on common rail systems.
  2. Fitment confirmed by machine model and engine series: Fuel line fitment is application-specific; the same engine family across different machine models may require different line routing and end-fitting specifications. Our parts team confirms the correct fuel line replacement for your machine model and engine serial number before your order is placed.
  3. Coverage across CAT, Cummins, and Komatsu in one catalogue: Rather than sourcing from separate brand-specific suppliers, Imara Engineering holds cat fuel line, cummins fuel line, and komatsu fuel line variants within a single collection, so your complete line order is processed and shipped together.
  4. Fast dispatch, worldwide shipping: Imara Engineering supplies fleet operators, workshop teams, and equipment dealers across East Africa and internationally. Orders are processed fast from our stocked warehouse and shipped worldwide, so your machine returns to operation without extended downtime from a component that should be a straightforward replacement.
  5. Complete fuel system coverage from one supplier: If your fuel line fault has caused downstream damage to the injection pump or injectors through air ingress or pressure loss, Imara Engineering stocks fuel injection pumps, fuel injectors, fuel lift pumps, and fuel shutoff solenoids alongside the line range, so the complete fuel system repair is a single consolidated order from one supplier.
