Excavator Track Rollers - The Undercarriage Parts Your Machine Stands On

They sit beneath the track, out of sight, and carry the full operating weight of your excavator every second it is working. Excavator track rollers, bottom rollers, lower rollers, digger track rollers whatever you call them, their condition determines how evenly your machine sits on the ground, how smoothly it travels across a site, how long your rubber tracks last, and how stable it feels under a heavy digging load.

When they seize, the damage does not stay contained. It spreads through the undercarriage parts system track, idler, sprocket, track frame, turning a straightforward roller replacement into a full undercarriage repair that costs multiples of what the rollers were worth. At Imara Engineering, we stock OEM-quality excavator track rollers and digger bottom rollers for mini excavators through to large production machines, cross-referenced against OEM part numbers for Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Kubota, Yanmar, and more. We ship worldwide.

Collection: Excavator Track Rollers

Why Excavator Bottom Rollers Fail And What It Costs

The internal oil charge is everything. The shaft and bushings inside an excavator bottom roller run in an oil bath sealed by floating metal face seals. As long as those seals hold, the roller runs freely and distributes load correctly across the undercarriage system. When they fail  through abrasive contamination, incorrect track tension, or accumulated operating hours  the oil escapes and the roller progresses toward seizure.

A seizing excavator track roller becomes a stationary contact point beneath the track. The machine's full operating weight concentrates on that single point instead of distributing across a rotating surface. The rubber track or track chain directly above it wears at an accelerated rate. The track frame absorbs abnormal point loads it was not designed for. The idler and sprocket experience irregular tension as the seized roller disrupts smooth track travel.

At Imara Engineering, when a customer describes excavator undercarriage wear, we always ask the same question first: when did the rollers last get inspected? The answer is almost always longer ago than it should have been. And the track damage is almost always the more expensive item on the bill.

Warning Signs  What Your Excavator Undercarriage Is Telling You

  • Oil residue beneath the track frame — face seal failure on one or more rollers. Lubrication is deteriorating with every operating hour from this point.
  • Flat spots on a roller shell — the roller has seized and is being dragged. The track is absorbing a concentrated point load with every pass.
  • Abnormal wear on track links or rubber track inner surface above specific roller positions — point loading identifying exactly which roller is the problem.
  • Rhythmic vibration during travel not explained by terrain — flat-spotted rollers creating a periodic impact as the deformed surface contacts the track with every revolution.
  • Excavator sitting unevenly on level ground — asymmetric roller wear across one side of the track frame affecting working geometry and machine stability during digging.
  • Track riding off-centre on the rollers — worn flanges no longer guiding the track correctly, accelerating both flange wear and track link side wear simultaneously.

Excavator Track Roller Specifications, Getting the Right Fit

Four parameters define the correct excavator track roller. A mismatch on any one produces a roller that either does not fit the track frame or fits but performs incorrectly from the first operating hour:

  • Shell outer diameter — must match the track frame roller mounting geometry. Too small creates a gap that allows the track to sag between positions. Too large and the roller contacts the frame itself.
  • Flange width, profile, and configuration — single flange for outer roller positions, double flange for inner positions. Flange width must match the track link inner width for your specific machine. Incorrect flange width allows the track to ride off-centre — the most common cause of asymmetric track link and roller flange wear.
  • Shaft diameter and mounting dimensions — determines the load rating of the roller. An undersized shaft deflects under peak load conditions, stressing the face seals and accelerating failure.
  • Face seal grade — confirmed for each machine family and operating environment. A machine working in abrasive sandy conditions requires a different seal specification from the same machine working in wet clay.

At Imara Engineering, every excavator track roller order is confirmed against all four parameters using your machine serial number and roller position on the track frame. Provide your machine make, model, serial number, and roller position  front, mid, or rear  and we confirm the exact specification before your order is placed.

Excavator Track Rollers by Brand

Our excavator undercarriage parts inventory spans the most widely operated excavator brands — all cross-referenced against OEM part numbers, all forming part of our broader undercarriage parts range.

Caterpillar — covering Cat 301, 302, 303, 305, and 308 mini excavator series and larger Cat models. Cat 303 and 305 track rollers are priority stock specifications. Shell diameter, flange profile, and shaft specification confirmed against Cat OEM part numbers for each model series.

Komatsu — compatible with PC15, PC20, PC35, PC50, PC55, and PC78 series. Komatsu PC series track rollers are engineered to the tight undercarriage tolerances of the PC range — confirmed against Komatsu OEM part numbers across all listed models.

Hitachi — stocked for ZX17, ZX26, ZX35, ZX50, ZX75, and ZX200 series excavators. Hitachi ZX series track rollers confirmed against Hitachi OEM part numbers for shell diameter, flange profile, and shaft specification.

Kubota — covering KX016, KX018, KX040, KX057, KX080, and U series including U17, U27, and U35. Standard and heavy-duty face seal options available for high-moisture and abrasive operating conditions.

Other Brands — we also stock excavator track rollers for Yanmar, Bobcat, JCB, Takeuchi, Doosan, and Volvo excavators. Contact our team with your machine details and roller position and we will confirm availability.

OEM Quality, What Every Roller Is Built To

Every excavator track roller supplied by Imara Engineering is held to four standards across the aftermarket undercarriage parts range:

  • Shell hardness to HRC 52-58 — resisting abrasive wear without brittleness under the rock and debris impact loads that excavators encounter in construction, quarrying, and trenching environments
  • Face seal grade matched to operating environment — confirmed for each machine family, not a universal seal applied across all conditions
  • Internal oil volume and grade confirmed for operating temperature range — correct viscosity at operating temperature ensures effective lubrication across the full service interval
  • Shaft hardness and bushing clearance matched to machine weight class — confirmed against OEM specification for each weight class in our heavy equipment undercarriage range

OEM excavator track rollers carry a brand premium percent above equivalent quality aftermarket specification. At Imara Engineering, the specification standard and fitment guarantee are the same. The premium is not.

Industries That Depend on Excavator Track Roller Reliability

  • Construction & Civil Engineering — excavator bottom rollers for machines on active construction programmes. Abrasive surfaces and high daily operating hours drive accelerated roller wear. Fast supply and OEM-rated shell hardness are non-negotiable.
  • Landscaping & Garden Construction — mini excavator track rollers for U series, KX series, and E series machines. A seized roller on a landscaping digger damages the rubber track and the finished surface simultaneously.
  • Agriculture & Land Drainage — compact excavator track rollers for wet, high-moisture conditions. Face seal specification for damp and muddy environments is the critical quality parameter for agricultural undercarriage parts.
  • Pipeline & Utility Trenching — excavator track rollers for stony easement corridors. Rock impact damage to roller shells and flanges is a regular maintenance event shell hardness and flange integrity are the defining parameters.
  • Plant Hire & Rental Fleets — excavator undercarriage parts across mixed-brand hire fleets. Imara Engineering supplies hire operators with trade pricing and serial number verified specifications as standard on every roller order.
